About The Artists
The Regina Symphony Orchestra (RSO) is a musical organization that has been in operation for almost 50 years, with roots stretching back to the early 1900s. Growing from a volunteer group of musical Regina residents, the RSO is now a professional musical ensemble composed of wind, string, brass and percussion instruments, performed by expert musicians. Through live concert events and engaging educational opportunities, the RSO provides musical experiences for people of all ages and levels of musical knowledge. Concerts feature music from a variety of creative periods, cultures, and musical styles – making an RSO orchestra performance a unique experience in Southern Saskatchewan. RSO performances are a place to gather in celebration of our musicians and of our community. The RSO concert season runs from September to June, with ticketed concerts featuring the full orchestra ranging from intimate chamber performances to large- scale symphony spectaculars.

Gordon Gerrard, conductor
Conductor Gordon Gerrard is among the exciting new generation of music directors demonstrating new visions for orchestral leadership in Canada. Currently in his sixth season leading the Regina Symphony Orchestra, Gordon has distinguished himself as a leader in innovative and inclusionary programming. Trained first as a pianist and subsequently as a specialist in operatic repertoire, he brings a fresh perspective to the podium that endears him to audiences and musicians alike. After an international search, Gordon was appointed Music Director of the Regina Symphony Orchestra where he has taken bold steps reimagining the orchestra’s programming, including its Forward Currents Festival dedicated to social change and community engagement.

Stéphane Tétreault, cello
In addition to innumerous awards and honours, Stéphane Tétreault is the recipient of the prestigious 2019 Virginia Parker Prize from the Canada Council for the Arts and was a nominee for the Oscar Morawetz Award for Excellence in Music Performance from the Ontario Arts Council. He is also the laureate of the 2022 Prix Opus for “Performer of the Year”, awarded by the Conseil québécois de la musique and accompanied by a Canada Council grant. In 2018, he received the Maureen Forrester Next Generation Award in recognition of his sensitivities with music, his enviable technique, and his considerable communication skills.

Stéphane was a student of the late cellist and conductor Yuli Turovsky for more than 10 years. He holds a master’s degree in Music Performance from the University of Montreal.
Stéphane plays the 1707 “Countess of Stainlein, Ex-Paganini” Stradivarius cello, on generous loan by Mrs. Sophie Desmarais.
